Hello Everyone, My name is Debbie Kellermann.
Hello Everyone, My name is Debbie Kellermann. I live and work in Florida in the USA. I have recently semi-retired from most of my responsibilities at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. I taught and designed curriculum at UF for our international students who were all adults enrolled in an Intensive English Program as part of our Linguistic Department there. I have had a passion for teaching my entire life, but the politics there became just too negative. Now, I am teaching online courses for a smaller college in the St. Augustine area of North Florida, continuing some research projects, working on materials to possibly publish, and enjoying lots more free time. This is my 6th course with iTDi and I have enjoyed and learned a great deal from each one. I am very excited to learn more about publishing my work and I am very enthusiastic about taking this course. I want to explore moving into publishing and editing as a second, new career choice.
However, I will be a little absent these first few days because my husband and I are traveling to Japan on August 29 to visit Tokyo and see our son who is stationed there with the US Marines. I will try to join in the first class when I am in Tokyo, but I may not get much actual work accomplished until I return to the USA. Therefore, don't be annoyed at me not responding to comments. I will be a much more conscientious and responsive student once I have returned home!

One of the nice things about writing is that time is elastic; not like teaching, where a class that meets on Thursday at noon has to start on Thursday at noon. With writing, you can jump in when you're ready and when you can.
ReplyDeleteIf you can't join us for the live class, no worries--the whole thing gets recorded, and there are other people who can't make the live sessions either because of time zones. I'm sure you'll be able to catch up later. Kids come first! :)
Hello Debbie, nice meeting you! I'm so sorry for what has been happening to teachers in the USA at the moment, and I 'm glad you have other options and choices. I'll be happy to learn from you and your experience. Enjoy your trip to Japan. I also have a son who lives in Manchester and only see him once in two years, so I can understand how you feel about it!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie - enjoy your time in Tokyo! It's always fun to explore a new city/country for the first time.
