Hello everyone!
Hello everyone!
Here are my cover samples. You can vote for the upper part and the lower part separately - I can combine the top of one sample with the bottom of another one.
Also, notice the use of hashtags on the cover - what do you think?
And one more thing - do you prefer capital letter(s) or lowercase in "stray stories" (which is the title of the whole series). First letter capital, all capitals, all lowercase?
Thank you!

I love the drawings!! I don't know why but I prefer #2.
ReplyDeleteAll three are lovely! Like Laura, I think I like #2 best. Perhaps it’s because the font is larger and the colours are slightly bolder. Yellow doesn’t stand out as clearly in the title, perhaps.
ReplyDeleteThe hashtags look great, imo. And the bottom is lovely and clear (Maybe just remove the word “by”?)
Well done - and a topic so dear to my heart :)
Nice! I think I like the red letters better for the title.
ReplyDeleteSome suggestions:
1. Unless you have a lot of "Stray Stories," I'd remove the subtitle. If you are planning a series, perhaps Stray Stories #1.
2. I wouldn't put hashtags on a book cover. For a social media announcement, sure--but hashtags are meant to be searched, and of course you can't search book covers that way.
3. Then, with those gone, you'll have more room to make the title larger. Maybe bold? Or a thicker font? If you can get rid of "Stray Stories," then you can move the title up, too.
4. For the credits, you have two choices: either no "by" at all (the most common), or one of these:
Story by Margarita Kosior

or
Story: Margarita...

Two examples of children's book covers. In each case, Harve did the story and Margot the illustrations. But they're noted differently.

ReplyDeleteOh, one more! Don't forget to capitalize Rescue. :)
ReplyDeleteThe illustrations are really cute but like Dorothy I'd suggest a more evocative font.
ReplyDeleteThe illustrations are absolutely adorable, and the story is great!
ReplyDeleteDorothy Zemach I like the border here.
ReplyDeleteSwim Finn Happy you like it! Do you think the story could be used in your teaching context?
ReplyDeleteI teach adults, so probably not. But if I were to teach children, I absolutely
ReplyDeletewould use it.
