Tips For The IELTS Speaking Test
Tips For The IELTS Speaking Test
Homework #1 Should it be done?
Who would read/use my material?
Any IELTS candidate practising for an upcoming test
Why? What would they gain from it?
Tips from examiners on what they can do to maximise their rating by looking at simple procedural and attitudinal elements in addition to language areas.
What are they currently using or reading instead?
Practice tests online, from past papers and from IELTS preparation textbooks.
Why do I think my material (or idea) is good?
Quite often the practice material lacks test participation advice, and when it does the info can be erroneous. For example, many teachers tell their students to memorize texts for regurgitation in the exam, or lead them to overuse certain cohesive conjunctions. My approach will be knock this on the head by demonstrating with examples how such practices bend an
examiner towards a lower score.
Homework #2 Can it be done?
The potential? Yes. There are obstacles, of course. The biggest being time.
What will the final product look like—text? images? size? format? length?
The ebook will be an anthology of tips with links to audio files (YouTube with advertising revenue). Individual tips will be posted (weekly?) to Facebook/Twitter/Instagram (advertising revenue) with ebook promotion.
POD is not feasible for this project. The ebook will have a limited extent and small format - tip per page.
How much have I already written? How much is left to do?
I haven't started, but this course will get me off my arse.
How much of the thinking/planning have I already done? How much is left to do?
The plan is all in place—just need the content.
When do I plan to write?
Now.

ReplyDeleteGood topic--should be a popular one.
ReplyDeleteVery useful tool — I'd be happy to help with it (even though I'm relatively new to IELTS testing (I've done speaking tests for a few months now, part time).
