I have gone for the title DIY pronunciation as I hoped it would convey that this is a technique that teachers can use to identify a 'problem' and then fix it themselves. Let me know if that makes sense!
Re: the covers, i've made a couple of options based around the the theme of DIY and having a tool (the diagnostics contained in the book) to identify and address the problem.
Cover 1: I like the bright colours but wondered if the large tool box image was too confusing given the actual content.
Cover 2: This is my most contemporary cover, I felt it was most like the texts I have at home.
Cover 3:I like the design of this but it does remind me of maths textbooks from the 1980s! :)

Oh, definitely the first one! Like I tell everyone, I"d love to see your title larger. Could you run that orange box horizontally across the cover? Like a stripe from one side to the other? Then make your title and subtitle larger. I wonder if we could shorten the subtitle, too.. how about "Tools for English language teachers to identify students' pronunciation needs"?
ReplyDeleteIs it only identifying needs, or is there more to it? If more to it, then maybe "Tools for English language teachers of pronunciation" or something like that.
Dorothy Zemach Thanks Dorothy, good to know that image isn't too confusing! I did one final alternative in a more simple format too. I can play about with the subtitle to make it a bit shorter. Watch this space.

I agree — the first one is much more eye-catching than the other two. Second on making the text bigger, as well. I sort of like the layout of the orange box where it is, but I couldn't tell you why (and I'd go with Dorothy's suggestion over mine).
ReplyDeleteI love the first one. You've been given me some ideas for improving mine.
ReplyDeleteThe first one!
ReplyDeleteI'm still liking the first one! But with larger title and either larger, more visible subtitle or no subtitle.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the comments, I'll spend some time on the first one, see if I can edit it as per your comments.
ReplyDeleteI've tried to edit cover one in accordance with your comments. I've made the title bigger and the orange box wider.

Gemma Archer Ooooh... much better!
ReplyDeleteIf you wanted less orange and more tools, you could put your name at the top (upper right) in black.
ReplyDeleteLess orange :D

I think I like this one - the last one - the best! Thanks for the feedback Dorothy!
ReplyDeleteGemma Archer I love the last one!!!! Wow!!!!! Well done!!!!!
